Frit Work
Glassblowers use frits or crushed glass to color their clear glass. Glass fusers use frits in a painterly way to build up layers of colors, creating an effect of depth between the fired glass. I fire frits just until they’re just melted (pate de verre) and then I stack them up to create delicate salt bowls, surface decorations on my ceiling lights, to make jewelry components and hanging mobiles.
